1/48 Revell F-14D, VF-101 Grim Reapers

This is a Revell F-14D built in the markings of VF-101 "The Grim Reapers", the sole remaining Tomcat training squadron. It was built for the group build, as well as on a dare from a friend to see if we could complete a model of this size as fast as possible. 

The kit itself was fairly badly warped around the wing glove area and forward fuselage near the nose. The seams were never fully fixed, but the effect was minimized largely. I lost two decals to my dog, who licked the model before they had been sealed on. The model was weathered with a powder wash using Doc O'Brien's Weathering Powders purchased from MicroMark.

Modifications for this kit include removing the blade antenna from the forward gear doors, adding a small HUD to the cockpit, squaring off the engine fairings to better represent a GE powered Tomcat, removing the molded on sparrow missiles from the shoulder missile mounts and adding several small, hard to see antenna's found on the D.
