1/48 Hasegawa F-14B, VF-103 Jolly Rogers

This is the 1/48 Hasegawa VF-103 show bird. Instead of the kit decals (which I have given away to another ARC member) I used the Two Bobs sheet.  The bang seats are True Detail resin. The exhaust is the Steel Beach resin replacement with skull and crossbones decals (in 1/72) from a very old Hasegawa sheet.

The Steel Beach replacement is very heavy and required more then a bit of fishing weights in the nose to prevent the model from being a tail sitter. I have built the Hasegawa Tomcat at least 15 times, but this one had no end of trouble with the intakes. Anyone who has built this model knows the fun involved with the intakes.  I used the Steel Beach cover to hide the glaring errors.  2$ and I found away to save a good week of sanding and repairs.

The Sidewinders and Sparrows are from the Hasegawa weapons set with the TwoBobs missile decals.  The Pod is from my spare box with a chopped up Phoenix rail and decals from the spare box.  This one turned out pretty fair.
