Academy 1/48 F-14A, VF-41 Black Aces

Quite by chance, I made Tomcat #2 also a VF-41 bird, but we leap forward in the years to Operation Iraqi Freedom.

This is the Academy 1/48 A kit. This kit is set to depict VF-41 CAG bird during OIF. The sheet I think was the Yellowhammer sheet. I can't remember as I have passed the low-viz markings onto someone else and can't find the specific details anymore!!

Ok, after a lot of advice and help on ARC, this bird has a LANTIRN on the pylon below the AIM/9.
I built the adapter rack for the LANTIRN myself. The pod came from the Hasegawa Weapons set D.
On the other side, on a modified pylon, are 2 AIM/9'S. Now, I know someone is going to say they never carried 2 on that side, but I think it looks good, so there! I also modified the kit's rails to resemble BOL rails. My first true scratch-building effort!!!

Not yet attached on the photo, but put up later on are two GBU-24's, staggered and on scratch-built adapter racks. Sounds rather grand except there's not a lot on detail on them and I think I slung them too low, but again, looks ok to me.

Paints are by Lifecolor and are acrylic. I airbrushed them with a Badger 150 and a bent needle! Also used were Alclad Jet Exhaust and Polished Aluminum.  This kit took a lot of work, but I enjoyed it immensely and love the end result!

Thanks for looking.
Liam
