Hasegawa F-14A, VF-194 Red Lightnings

This is the 1/72 Hasegawa "Atlantic Fleet Squadron " Kit [E14 #00544], with markings from Repliscale #1012 (kindly donated by ARCer Ant Phillips).
After most of the major construction work was completed, I used various Alclad II on the wing leading edges, gun port, and engines. These were then masked off along with the canopy. The canopy area was then sprayed Flat black, and I sprayed Humbrol SG White #130 into the wheel wells and gear doors. When cured, the underside and other parts were sprayed with Xtracrylix Light Compass Grey #1136 (FS16375).
After the LCG had cured, I then
sprayed Xtracrylix Dark Compass Grey #XA1135 (FS16320) on the forward fuselage
and tails. Next up I masked up the forward fuselage and sprayed Xtracrylix Dark
Blue/Grey #XA1126 (FS15237). A few of light coats of Klear (Future) were
sprayed, even though the Xtracrylix are Gloss (habits die hard).
The decals were applied from the Repliscale sheet, however they do not supply
and stenciling so I dug out a sheet of CAMs Lo-Viz markings and used those.
After the decals dried overnight, I cleaned the model and another few light
coats of Klear (Future) were applied.
I used an Enamel
panel wash of Humbrol #32 mixed with Humbrol Thinners and was liberally applied
and then cleaned up with Q-tips and kitchen towel damped with thinners. Next up
I sprayed a final Flat coat using Pollyscale Flat Varnish.
To finish, the landing gear & doors, seats and antennas were added. The nose
pitot, from Fine Molds was added by drilling a 0.5mm hole in the nose, and
supergluing it. The wings, tails and horizontal stabs were slipped into their respective
slots/holes and the canopy placed on - not glued as I may go back and raise it.
