1/72 F-14A, VF-111 Sundowners

Attached are 3 jpg pictures of my F14 group build entry.

I bought this 1/72 Airfix kit of a very early production F-14A as a bagged kit in the clearance bin of my local hobby shop. I converted it into a late F-14A by cutting and shaping a new "beaver tail," redoing the 20mm cannon port and vent, added assorted ECM bumps. I also rescribed panel lines and fit a needle pitot. A refueling probe was fashioned from stretched sprue. Equipage rubber tires and photo etch mirrors and ejection handles. Neo-Omega resin ejection seat. The marking are the well-known 1989 VF-111 CAG bird "Miss Molly," decals are from "Hawkeye Models." A little background - Miss Molly Snead was a nurse who cared for Sen. Carl Vinson's wife.
