Monogram 1/48 F-14A, Ferris Scheme
by Christian Blachford
White Lake, MI

Before I say anything else, this kit was built at the height of my AMS, so that would explain why I rescibed this monogram kit, used 13 shades of paint and pastel on the exhaust nozzles (one of which came from a Hasegawa kit), and pre- and post-shading on the three-color Ferris scheme. Other symptoms of AMS apparent in this model are the scratch built ground refueling point, and O2 tank bays, Bare Metal Foil RBF tags, and obviously the choice of markings. Which, came from Super Scale’s sheet 48-278 I believe. Actually the paint scheme was not that hard, it was just very tedious, mask for three hours, paint for ten, then repeat for the rest of the colors. Over all I am pleased with the model, the panel lines do not look as good as I would have liked but the finished product really stand out in my collection, and is a real attention grabber at contest.
